Meryl Tanenger
A Brief Biography

Meryl began her career by singing and performing the flute in Latin clubs around and throughout  New York City while still working to earn her Bachelor's degree in Music from Queen's College.

In time she would assemble a powerhouse trio with Hammond organ and drums. The trio entertained many summers at 'Kutsher's Catskill Resort'. Meryl still found time to offer her world class sound to guests onboard the gorgeous ocean liner 'Queen Elizabeth II'. Her cabaret show even took her trio to the far east where she performed at the Nagoya Castle Hotel in Japan . Her combined talents of pop / jazz and vocals are highly valued and truly appreciated.

Meryl decided to make the Sunshine State her home after a decade of cruising. In 2000 Meryl took up residence in South Florida where the heat and humidity have yet to capture her heart!

She continues to sing and perform the flute (with a touch of piano) in a variety of venues that might feature Big Band sounds or perhaps  intimate Jazz duos and trios. You'll even hear a slight Latin / Caribbean influence.

"Talk about a brief bio! The trouble with history is that there's more of it everyday." - Meryl

Meryl values and performs a wide range of swing and jazz  standards as well as pop hits from artists like Sting, Diana Krall and Sade. Perhaps you can call this making music the 'old fashioned way'...  as Meryl says "by simply playing it".
